MK Dons are still in the market to sign another defender after confirming the purchase of Warren O'Hora from Brighton.

With the deal for the Irishman already being processed, Keogh's surprise move away from the club has Russell Martin back on the hunt for defensive strength before the January window closes.

He said: "We spent all evening on Saturday and all day on Sunday to get the next one in. We'll have to see where that goes, but the wheels are well and truly in motion and we have to make sure we replace him adequately and move on from there."

With the salary cap in place though, Martin admitted there are players he has been interested in who would prefer to stay where they are, knowing a move may involve them taking a pay cut.

He added: "Players who we'd really like to sign are on too much money compared to what we can afford for next season, so players are staying where they are because they realise next year, they might be taking a pay cut. It's really tough."
