Russell Martin has been watching plenty of potential transfer targets over the last few weeks, but believes he will have to wait and see how the footballing world stands up to the financial stresses of coronavirus before he can make any decisions.

Martin predicts most football clubs will need to reevaluate their financial positions heading into the next transfer window as a result of the current lockdown period, with many clubs, including Dons, furloughing staff in a bid to save money.

But while he has been afforded the time to watch transfer targets during the lockdown, Martin knows the transfer window will be unlike any other before it and he may have to alter his expectations before he can establish his plan.

"I'also looked at a lot of players we could potentially recruit – there has been a lot of time for that," he told the Citizen. "It will all depend on the state of football when we can get going again, the finances available whether come come out of it strongly or not as strong as we'd have liked.

"I'm so thankful that we've got a chairman and an infrastructure in place that means we can hopefully come out of this as best as possible, but we won't really know what sort of business we can do in the next window.

"A lot of clubs will be in difficult positions over the next few months so we may have to be flexible."
