MK Dons need to perfect Plan A before they can work on a Plan B, admitted Russell Martin, but they will not be playing route one football any time soon.

After being questioned about his side's style of play by Sky Sports reporters last week after defeat to Oxford United, Dons failed to do any damage to Blackpool on Saturday, prompting some fans to wonder whether the side should have another approach in their armoury.

"It’s interesting, I don’t know what a Plan B would be," Martin said. "It’s 'hit it long to a big man' and we won’t do that at any point. I’d stand there feeling uneasy and anxious.

"We’ve dominated most teams in terms of chances and shots, we need to defend our box better and be ruthless in front of goal. I don’t feel like we’ve had enough time to work on Plan A yet! We’re working on things all the time, but it does take time.

"I don’t want to put anything in jeopardy and watching for the best, I don’t like watching it I feel sick watching it. It’s not the team we’re building, it’s not what we are working on. It’s not arrogance, it’s the way I believe we should play.

"This group of players are unbelievable, they show confidence and courage. I know we have to make it work because pressure comes eventually, we need to tweak things, I understand that. Once we have everyone fit and at their best, we will kick on and the wins will come."
