Dons boss Russell Martin said his side were good value for their 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Rhys Healey's 11th goal of the season came midway through the second half when chances were few and far between. Bolton, who are rooted to the foot of the table, were resolute and smothered Dons in the attacking third, but could do little when caught on the counter, with Alex Gilbey instrumental in feeding Healey, who slid under Remi Matthews for the only goal of the game.

"I thought we were in control," he said. "We will come up against teams like that a few more times when teams come here and sit back and make things difficult for us. We had to be patient.

"In the first half, we lacked our usual intensity and the whole things was a bit flat. But we told them to relax at half time, we knew Bolton would tire and chances would come. We were better in the second half, and I was really pleased with the last half an hour. We could have ended up with three or four goals and no-one could have complained at that. I would have like us to be more incisive but you won't get that every week.

"Despite their league position, they've got good players, experienced players who know how to play the game and a good management team. I felt it would be the most difficult we've had in while and it proved to be. It's a sign of how far we've come that we end up winning 1-0. A few months ago, we wouldn't have won that. We played the second half at their end and we stuck to it."
