Luke Williams said a trip to Goodison Park to play Everton in the third round of the FA Cup would appease goalkeeping coach Dean Thornton.

Dons booked their spot in Monday night's draw with a 1-0 win over Barnet at The Hive, courtesy of Cameron Jerome's goal eight minutes from the end.

Asked who he might like in the next round, which sees Premier Leauge and Championship sides added to the competition for the first time, Dons' assistant manager said coaching colleague Thornton had been very vocal about his desires.

He said: "Everyone is speculating, but the one I keep hearing is Everton away because Dean Thornton is a massive Toffees fan! I think we'll look into some sort of fix because he has been banging on about it a lot!"

Despite leaving it until the 82nd minute to put Barnet to bed, Dons had enough chances to be high and dry before the break, with Regan Poole hitting the bar and Ste Walker firing over from close range in the first half, before Carlton Morris fired just wide in the second.

"We had great chances, and if they go in, it gives you a different feeling," Williams continued. "But we had to stand there and be nervous for a longer period of time. The first one flashes across Regan, and we're talking centimetres away, and that's the difference in football sometimes. Luckily for him, because he'd have been thinking of that one all night, Cammy comes on and puts it to bed."
