Daniel Harvie admits he is trying to control his fiery temper but said he is much better than he used to be.

The 22-year-old Scot is among the first players to give the officials a piece of his mind when he thinks things aren't going his way, but has only been booked five times this season.

His passion though, he says, is driven by his desire to win, but said he still needs to curb the way he speaks to referees.

"It’s difficult for myself, I’ve always been like that," he said. "It’s trying to manage it in the correct way, I was bad for it when I was younger and got told off a few times. It’s about controlling yourself, speaking to the ref correctly. I love it though!

"I want to win every game, I take draws and defeats personally. I go out to every game looking to win and take it badly if we don’t."

Having made 20 appearances since his move from Ayr United in the summer, Harvie says he is settled in Milton Keynes and into the squad and feels the club is on the up after a tough start to the season.

He continued: "I’ve adapted well, it was a bit stop-start going away with Scotland, it was difficult sometimes. I feel as if I’ve settled down well, the boys have been great and the staff have also been good. I’ve loved every minute of it here.

"At the start of the season it was a new formation for a lot of us, we knew we’d be getting onto the same wavelength and play with some fluency. We’ve got to that stage now, we had that bumpy period at the start and worked hard to get us into a good position. No team is perfect, but I think we are on the right path and we are doing well.

"I think we’re capable of a lot, some games this season we’ve felt we could’ve won. I think we had a few draws that we felt we should’ve won the game. Some games we concede early and it’s a battle trying to win the game. We’ve got a lot of good players who are capable of a lot of things and it’s about putting that together."
