Fifth straight win leads New Bradwell St Peter Ladies to dramatic league title
The Petes finished their campaign in flying style
A five-star performance from New Bradwell St Peter Ladies on the final day of the season ensured they lifted the league title in style.
An emphatic 5-1 win over Netherton United Women, their fifth triumph in a row, saw them leapfrog Newport Pagnell Town Women to claim the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Division One South crown by a single point.
It has been an action packed season for the Petes, culminating in their final run for the league title, picking up an impressive 15 wins out of 18 en route to the top.
Manager Perri Farrelly said: “This squad has shown incredible resilience and unity all season, coupled with demonstrating the quality they possess, putting themselves in a great position in the league coming into the final game.
“It has been a privilege to manage this committed, hardworking and talented group of ladies, supported by a fantastic coaching team alongside me.”
Skipper Shayla Burgess added: “As captain, I couldn't be prouder of what this group has achieved over the course of the season. It hasn't always been easy.
“There were moments where things didn't go our way, and times we had to really dig in but the character in this team has been clear from start to finish.
“The progress we've made, both individually and as a team, is something we should all take real pride in. I also want to thank the coaches, club, and supporters who have been with us every step of the way.
“While the season may be coming to a close, this is just another step forward for us! We'll take the lessons, the memories, and the standards we've set into the next one.”
