After netting his first goal of the season on Tuesday night, Sam Nombe says the rest will come naturally this season for him.

The 21-year-old fired in Dons' second of the evening against Northampton Town in the EFL Trophy as Dons ran out 3-1 winners at Stadium MK.

Nombe said while pressure will mount on the forwards this season to replace the goals lost in the sale of Rhys Healey, Dons have the ability to score from all over the pitch but now he has opened his account, he believes more will follow.

He said: "For me in my position, that first goal is always the hardest and then the rest of them come naturally when you get that sniff.

"As forwards, we need to bring goals – that's what we're there for. But it's not just us, our team is set up to help us dominate defensively and progress forward. We can't do our job without them, and they can't do their job without us.

"We're going to get wins as a group, whether it's me scoring the goals or someone else. Anyone can bring goals to the team, the main focus is getting the win."
