Pictured are the Deanshanger Divas U12 girls team showing off their brand new kit – paid for by the family of one of their biggest fans.
Established two years ago as part of Deanshanger Colts Football Club, the team are currently enjoying their first season playing in the Bucks Girls League.
The late Dave Owen was an avid supporter of grass roots football in Deanshanger and after he passed away last year, his sons kindly left a sum of money to the club for all the pleasant time he spent there.
And so, as a lasting tribute to Dave and the generosity of his family, the club have spent the money on a brand new kit for the Divas, proudly sporting the name ‘Dave Owen’ as their shirt sponsor.
“Dave was always keen to know how the Deanshanger Colts and Divas were doing, and it’s a great honour for the girls to wear his name,” said Richard Johnson, chairman of the club. “Especially as the blue kit is so similar to Dave’s beloved Portsmouth FC.”
The Divas are recruiting girls in school years 4, 5, 6 and 7, training on Saturdays. See their website for more details.
