MK Dons' dismal start to the season could be eased dramatically with a win over Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night.

The Latics have made a sticky start this season after suffering relegation from the Championship last time out. They sit 18th in the table, with two more points than Dons after winning twice so far. Dons meanwhile have just one win to their name, and sit 23rd and level on five points with bottom club Burton.

There have been just two league meetings between the sides down the years, both coming in the 2017/18 season. After being Dons 1-0 on the opening day of the season at Stadium MK, Wigan thumped Dan Micciche's Dons 5-1 at the DW Stadium in April 2018 with Will Grigg netting a hat-trick.

John Sheridan's men head to Stadium MK arguably in worse form than Dons, having lost four of their last five games, picking up a point in their last outing at home to Plymouth on Saturday.

The bookmakers have Dons at 19/20 to win the game, Wigan at 11/4 and 13/5 the draw.

Refereeing the game will be Charles Breakspear. An official notorious in the EFL, Breakspear has booked 30 and sent off three in his opening eight games this season. Dons last saw him in the 2-1 win over Rochdale in January. Samuel Ogles and Damith Bandara will run the lines, with Fourth Official Abbas Khan.
