Fans returned to watch football again for the first time in nine months, but visitors to The Valley watched MK Dons put on a sensational show to beat Charlton Athletic 1-0.

The excellent Scott Fraser finished off a brilliant move 15 minutes from time to secure a deserved three points, having had the best chances at The Valley.

Charlton had half chances throughout, encouraged by an excited and boystrous 2,000 supporters in the ground, but they closest they came was a strike off the bar in stoppage time.

It's a result which sees Dons climb slightly in the table to 17th, but was by far Dons' most complete performance of the season so far.

After Sunday's FA Cup win over Barnet at The Hive, Russell Martin reverted to a more familiar look to his side, making seven changes, with Dean Lewington, Richad Keogh, Andrew Surman and Carlton Morris keeping their places in the side.

The visitors shaded the opening 45 minutes, and comfortably had the better of the chances – the first of which coming inside the first minute, but were met with an in-form Ben Amos who was proving a match for them. He denied Cameron Jerome in the opening minute, before twice denying Scott Fraser efforts as he proved a constant thorn in Charlton's side.

The midfield battle between David Kasumu and former Dons Alex Gilbey was entertaining throughout, but it was manager Russell Martin who entered the book first, protesting what he felt should have been a penalty for a foul by Darren Pratley on Jerome.

Feisty though it was, Charlton looked a threat whenever they broke forwards and got bodies in the penalty area but were unable to really trouble Andrew Fisher's net.

And the trend continued into the second half as the game flowed back and forth, both sides playing nice football and looking dangerous.

Fraser and Sorinola once again looked threatening, with the latter testing Amos early on before Morris too came close to opening the scoring, while Warren O'Hora headed over for Martin's side.

Charlton's best chances came from Dons' errors, and they probably should have led when Fisher's header from a Lewington bouncing ball back fell to Conor Washington, but the striker was harried quickly and unable to get a decent effort on the open goal.

And they were made to pay for it when, with 15 minutes to go, Fraser finished off a brilliant move involving Matthew Sorinola and substitute Lasse Sorensen to give Dons the lead.

The Addicks came pouring forwards in the latter stages, but their best chance came in stoppage time when Darren Pratley hit the bar from the edge of the area.
