On his day, Scott Fraser can be the best player in League One Russell Martin believes.

The 25-year-old signed for Dons in the summer after leaving Burton Albion and so far, has netted four goals in 13 appearances for his new club. But both he and Martin want more.

Three of those four have come from the penalty spot, and he wants to add more assists to his game as well which he regularly tells his team-mates.

But it's not just hjis performances at the sharp end of the pitch which have impressed Martin. Demanding the Scot to do more out of possession, just as he did with striker Rhys Healey last season, Martin believes he is getting more out of Fraser and has one of the division's top talents on his hands.

"Scott has been great," he said. "He’s shown everyone what a gifted player he is, he showed how hard he is willing to work for the team.

"Players that are so good going forward can be less concerned with the off the ball stuff, but he does it brilliantly well and loves winning the ball back.

"We’ve got an exceptional footballer, he’s a brilliant player for the club, he’s someone who came because he believed in the identity and the style we are trying to implement. He will grow with us and on his day he’s up there with anyone in this league.

"He’s frustrated he’s not got more goals and assists. He’ll be frustrated he’s not scored more in open play, but if you want someone to score a penalty it’s him. He’s unfased by everything, Scotty. He wants to improve and progress and be better as a player.

"He came here because he sees it as a chance to get up into the Championship, I’m delighted we got him and I’m pleased he’s with us now."
