Scott Fraser equalised from the penalty spot as MK Dons salvaged a draw against Burton Albion at Stadium MK on Saturday.

For the 10th time in 17 games, Dons found themselves trailing early in the game, when Colin Daniel poked Burton in front. And it probably should have been more too. Ryan Edwards missed an excellent chance for the visitors to make it 2-0 as Dons looked at sea in the opening 45 minutes defensively.

Dons looked a different side in the second half and were level with 16 minutes to go when Fraser converted from the spot after Ciaran Gilligan downed Carlton Morris for a share of the spoils.

The result keeps Dons in 17th place in League One.

After the midweek thumping of Norwich U21s, Russell Martin named a more familiar starting line-up to face Burton Albion. Making nine changes from the side on Tuesday night, but only one from the league outing against Accrington Stanley, George Williams came in for suspended Matthew Sorinola.

Once again though, Dons would make life so much more difficult for themselves as they fell behind for the 10th time in 17 games to an early goal. Burton, with just two wins all season, had already had a sight of goal when Joe Powell got in behind, but a subsequent corner was deflected into the path of Colin Daniel to poke the Brewers ahead.

Frankly shambolic at the back in the opening half, Burton should have extended their lead when Ryan Edwards was gifted a free header but put wide, while Dean Lewington and Andrew Fisher almost conspired against themselves again, but the keeper managed to get something on Charles Vernam's effort over the top.

While it was going wrong at one end, Dons looked threatening at the other. Cameron Jerome had three decent efforts kept out by Kieran O'Hara, while George Williams also saw a shot just wide of the mark, and a header gathered by the keeper.

Dons looked a different animal in the second period though. Able to hold onto the ball at least, their pressure began to tell as Burton sat back, inviting Dons pressure. Scott Fraser fizzed an effort just wide of the mark, and they won a string of corners too but could not find a way through.

They did eventually though, and it came from the penalty spot with 16 minutes remaining. Ciaran Gilligan's attempt at a challenge on Carlton Morris saw the Dons striker upended in the penalty area, and left Fraser the duty to fire home his sixth of the season against his former club.

Despite their pressure in the opening half an hour of the second half, the equaliser restored the nervousness in Dons' defence, with both Lewington and Keogh giving cheap chances to the visitors, who until then had seldom been in the Dons half, let alone the penalty area.

Lasse Sorensen had a great chance to win it for Dons late on but could not direct his header goalwards as the home side came away with a draw.
