Fun in the sun for young footballers

SOME of the city’s best young football teams lifted trophies on the stadium:mk pitch on Sunday when they took part in the Milton Keynes and District Development League finals day.

Braving the heat, 20 teams went head-to-head in Shield and Cup finals, while their friends and families cheered them on from the stands – giving the youngsters a taste of what could still be to come in a few years.

In the U9s, Moretonville Rangers beat MK Wanderers Hawks to secure the Shield, while Deanshanger Colts beat AFC Dunstable to win the Cup.

In the U10s Shield, Cranfield Colts Jaguars saw off MK Wanderers Hawks while Brook End Colts Phantoms Reds beat Olney Town Colts Foxes Blues to lift the U10s Cup.

AFC Dunstable won the U11s Cup with a win over Delapre Dragons Saints, and there was joy for MK Wanderers Hawks who saw off Tattenhoe Yellows to lift the U11s Shield.

Sambo Rio lifted the U12s Shield beating Delapre Dragons Diamonds, and the lads from Westoning beat Stewkley to win the U12s Cup.

Last but not least, Roman Rangers Blue were victorious over Newton Longville Blue in the final of the U13s Cup, and there were celebrations for Tattenhoe as they beat Bromham Youth to lift the U13s Shield.
