Charlton midfielder Alex Gilbey admitted it was with a 'heavy heart' that he left MK Dons after three seasons.

The 25-year-old had a medical with the Addicks this time last week but the deal was put on hold due to the Londoners' ownership battles.

However, the deal was finally able to go through on Thursday night.

Tweeting after the move, Gilbey wrote: "IT comes with a heavy heart but I have chosen to leave Milton Keynes Dons

"I've had three really enjoyable years at Stadium MK, we had our ups and downs but we came through the other side stronger and I've reated memories that I'll cherish forever.

"I've formed so many close relationships and made lifelong friend and I'll always be forever thankful to MK Dons for them.
