Both Joe Mason and Ben Gladwin are still wanted by MK Dons for next season, but manager Russell Martin admitted the coronavirus pandemic has forced him to released them... for now.

The pair have suffered with injuries over the last few years but impressed in their spells at the club last season. However, neither were offered new contracts for next season.

Martin though said he was eager to see the pair return and would remain in contact with both before the start of the 2020/21 season and said if there is room in his budget, he would be enquiring about their availability.

"There are players who we've had to release but we'd like to keep in contact with. Joe Mason and Ben Gladwin are on that list to try and do something with them for next season. But things have changed dramatically financially for us, and we have to be careful not to put the club in a position it doesn't want to be in, financially, next season.

"We just need to see where we're at financially, and where they are at mentally with the club.

"We have to be shrewd in the transfer market. We don't want to let good players go, but we have to and that's the harsh reality we have to deal with."
