Ben Gladwin once again drew praise for his performance for MK Dons as he came off the bench during Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers.

Replacing Louis Thompson for the last 15 minutes, Gladwin showed a strong physical presence as well as his eye for a pass, spreading the play with some accurate long-range passes as well as a key lob in stoppage time for fellow sub Joe Mason to squander Dons' best chance of the second half.

Gladwin, who spent two years out through injury at at Blackburn Rovers, is still being managed as he edges back to full match fitness, and manager Russell Martin says as good as Gladwin's performances have been, he will not be rushed back.

He said: "He's gifted and if it wasn't for injuries he wouldn't be playing at this level. We have to manage him, but I'm desperate to get him on the pitch for as long as possible.

"We have to get him comfortable to start a game, and that's coming. He'll be ready soon to start.

"We don't want to rush it, and it's frustrating, but I feel like he's enjoying it, he';s improving in the confidence in his body and you can see what he adds. He can play anywhere as well.

"The quicker we can get him to start and in a place when he's ready, it'll be a real positive for us."
