Gladwin's delight at ending three-year goal drought

Gladwin's 20-yard strike against Wycombe came four minutes from time to secure Dons' 2-0 win over second-placed Wycombe Wanderers, adding icing on the cake after Rhys Healey's opener.

His last goal came in March 2017 for Blackburn, and after an injury nightmare left him considering retirement, Gladwin was delighted to have found the net to secure the points for his new club.

He said: "The result is the most important thing. I'm glad I could come on and create a bit of distance in the result, and it's a great win for us."

The 27-year-old was surrounded by his team-mates in his celebration as they joined in his relief at ending the lengthy drought between goals.

"A lot of them know my story, being out for so long, and they're a fantastic bunch and that meant a lot to me," he continued. "I'm really pleased to get that first goal, and those two years are behind me.

"I don't remember (the goal), to be honest! I came on to kick it and head it so that was in my mind but it kept opening up and I thought 'I'm going to have to hit this in a minute' and on my left foot too. I swung it and it went in, that's all I remember!

"It was a really proud moment, especially the way the lads came over to me. And it's the first time my fiancée has seen me play at MK Dons so it was good timing. I really enjoyed it, I'll go home and enjoy the night with my family."
