HEAD-TO-HEAD: Robinson names his Dons side to face Newport

Three summer signings will make their MK Dons debuts against Newport County on Tuesday night, Karl Robinson confirmed.

The manager, who on Saturday announced his intentions to play a an entirely new 11 from the team which started against Shrewsbury in League 1, revealed his line-up for the EFL Cup match on Monday.

Included are summer signings Lee Nicholls in goal, George B Williams and Scott Wootton.

Dean Bowditch missed out on the trip to Shrewsbury for the League 1 curtain raiser on Saturday, but will be named among the substitutes in Wales, as will goal-scorer Daniel Powell, Ed Upson and GC Williams.

League 2 side Newport County lost their opening game of the season on Saturday, going down 3-2 at home to Mansfield Town, who netted a last minute winner at Rodney Parade.

Newport’s League Cup campaign ended at the first round stage last season, going down 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, while Dons saw off Leyton Orient and Cardiff City at Stadium MK before suffering a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Premier League Southampton.
