Headstarts and rubbish goals frustrate Gladwin

"We have to take responsibility in the big moments, and to make sure we’re all doing our jobs "

Ben Gladwin could take no satisfaction from a great solo goal on Tuesday night as errors once again cost MK Dons points at Oxford on Tuesday.

Conceding inside the first 15 minutes for the SIXTH time this season, Dons managed to draw level through Cameron Jerome’s 11th minute equaliser and proceeded to dominate the first half but could not take the lead.

Oxford retook the lead when Sam Long scored a free header on the hour mark, and Olamide Shodipo’s 88th minute strike made it 3-1.

Gladwin scored a fine individual effort in stoppage time, but the midfielder said he could take no pride in the goal given how Dons threw away yet more points this season.

“It’s very frustrating. We feel we’re very close to being an amazing team but we’re conceding goals which we cannot keep doing. You go back and watch videos but we have to take responsibility in the big moments, and to make sure we’re all doing our jobs at the right times.

“Giving teams an early start is the worst thing. If we can get into the dressing room 0-0 at half time, that’s fine.

“There is potential for us to string results together but we’re making silly mistakes. The Gillingham game was domination and I think we could do that in every game, but we have to stop conceding the rubbish ones.”
