Oxford United's Matty Taylor has been named Player of the Month for February, beating Dons' Rhys Healey to the prize.

Taylor scored seven goals in seven appearances during February as Karl Robinson's side kept the pace in the race for automatic promotion in League One.

Although Healey missed out on picking up the prize, Alex Gilbey won the prize back in December when Dons were still in the relegation zone. And though Dons are still flirting with the bottom three - now just five points clear of 21st - manager Russell Martin says individual nominations show how much the side has improved.

Martin said: "I hope it shows how far we've come and how much we're working on players, and asking of them and how they've responded. It's a really good sign, I don't think it would have happened before.

"Both players would say they're really enjoying it, improving and I think a lot of others would say that. If others get nominated between now and the end of the season, we're doing OK."
