How MK Dons could line up against Wycombe Wanderers - will Kasumu keep his place?

Following MK Dons’ thumping 5-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, Liam Manning could well be forgiven for looking to name an unchanged side against Wycombe Wanderers in the play-off semi-final first leg tonight at Adams Park.

David Kasumu came into the side at Home Park to replace Theo Corbeanu for the game against Plymouth and the midfielder enjoyed a brilliant outing. Not only did he play a key role in smothering Jordan Houghton’s influence in the first half, he was also the one fouled to see the former Dons man sent off just before the interval.

In the second half, Kasumu then went onto set up Scott Twine for his hat-trick goal.

"I think David's role was crucial on how we performed,” said Dons’ Daniel Harvie. “He was put in there to stop Houghton getting on the ball as much as he did in the first game. We felt like most of their play came through him in the middle, so DK was put in the middle to try and nullify him, not let him on the ball as much and he did brilliantly.

"He was unbelievable in there.”

Given Wycombe’s physical approach, Kasumu may be the ideal man to have in midfield but Manning admitted just because their plan worked at Plymouth, the same approach may not against their play-off opponents.

He said: “What caused Plymouth problems were David's runs from deep and how impressive he is physically. It worked well last week but it's a completely different game we're going into.

"One thing that worked in one game might not work in another. We're clear on what our plan will be, and the excitement for me now is watching them do it.”
