Scott Fraser was brutally honest after MK Dons' 2-1 to Portsmouth on Saturday, admitting he did not sign for the club to sit bottom of League One.

The 25-year-old scored his first goal for his new club at Fratton Park, but despite Dons having 71 per cent of possession and 19 shots on goal, Kenny Jackett's side were able to hold on for their second win of the season, while Russell Martin's men are still seeking their first.

Fraser turned down many other options to move ot Stadium MK for this season, and he admitted joining a team at the foot of the table was not what he had in mind.

He said: "I came here because I believed in what we want to do, not to be at the bottom of the league. I have ambitions myself, and I don't want to be here as a team, but we're only five games in.

"Looking at the results last night – Hull were flying and lost 4-1. This league is tight. One win changes it all. If we're still bottom in five or six games then maybe ask questions, but only five games in, we need to relax."

Conceding after 60 seconds, Dons once again were left to chase the game, but drew level when Fraser converted from the spot after 11 minutes. But after George Williams fouled Sean Raggett in the box, Ellis Harrison restored Portsmouth's lead on 25 minutes - a lead they would hold on to despite Dons' second half dominance.

"As players, we're sick of coming off the pitch having worked so hard," Fraser continued. "But we don't feel the opposition need to do as much. Their chances – a minute or so in, they get a corner, **** from us. Then a penalty, poor from us.

"If you take away the score and look at how we play then fine, but we are in a results business.

"We're five games in and absolutely battering teams, but until we get the mentality of being hard to score against and ruthless at the other end, nothing will change.

"They had two shots on goal, and one of them was a penalty. It's not good enough. We're so good, anyone who comes to watch us will see, we work so hard. The manager and Luke work so hard on making us the best we can be. We just need to get stronger at both ends of the pitch."
