"I want to be the best George Williams!"

Separated only by their middle names two years ago, Dons signed both George Williams for the 2016/17 squad. George C Williams was on loan from Fulham in what was his third stint with the club, while George B Williams came on a free transfer from Barnsley for his second tenure at Stadium MK. And while George C's time was cut short and he was sent back to Craven Cottage with the arrival of Robbie Neilson, George B remains a first team regular at Dons.

This weekend, George C returns with Forest Green, but his namesake hopes to be the happier of the two when it comes to 5pm on Saturday.

"Little Willo is coming, it'll be great to see him! He's a good lad, but hopefully I'll be the best George Williams on the pitch on Saturday.

"They'll be a tough outfit – they've all been tough so far, and I know that's a bit cliché. We're looking forward to it, it'll be good to be back playing after a weekend off."

It will be the first visit to Milton Keynes for Rovers, who are embarking on their second campaign in the EFL after finishing 21st last season.

Mark Cooper’s side have began the campaign well, drawing five and winning two of their opening seven games en route to ninth place in the table so far.

Dons, who did not play at the weekend after their game with Yeovil was postponed due to international call-ups, ended Paul Tisdale’s former club Exeter City’s unbeaten run when they visited Stadium MK last month.

The sides have only met once before, and it came a little over 12 months ago in the Carabao Cup at The New Lawn. After a tense 0-0 draw, Gboly Ariyibi scored deep into extra time to send Dons through into the second round.

While he didn't do much exciting with his 'weekend off', the Dons defender believes the time off will help his team-mates come into Saturday's game stronger.

He said: "Every week, the gaffer is getting his point across and way and I think you can see that in the way we're playing. I'm sure in the coming weeks, you'll see more of where we want ot get to. Hopefully in a few weeks time, we'll be hitting our peaks.

"We are unbeaten, we're winning games, but if we can turn the draws into wins, score a few more goals, add that to our game, be better in possession, that's how we'll improve."
