Individual errors were Fleetwood's undoing

Interim manager Simon Wiles was frustrated with the individual errors which cost his Fleetwood side in the first half against MK Dons.

Two of Joe Mason's first half hat-trick could be attributed to lapses in defence, while it could have been much worse had Scott Fraser and Cameron Jerome been more accurate in front of goal.

Despite a spirited fightback in the second half from the visitors, Dons claimed the win to move up to 15th, while Fleetwood dropped to 12th.

“It was a tough night," said Wiles. "We didn’t give ourselves the opportunities to win the game with the start that we had. We’re very disappointed with the individual errors in the first half, but we spoke to the players at half-time and the second half they gave us a positive response and that’s what we got.

“It comes down to the first half being not good enough where we can’t allow teams a 3-0 lead where we need to engrain a ruthless side into the players where they have to know to play to the whistle as we had some really good chances early on to give us the best platform to play our football.

“We had a few really good chances in the second half but, unfortunately, we didn’t convert them. That’s going to come down to the training ground where we really have to work hard in an effort to convert them so we can start being more ruthless in front of goal.”
