The opportunity to play for his country has come at an inconvenient time for Regan Poole.

The 22-year-old will miss MK Dons' next two fixtures as he joins up with Wales U21s for their final two European Championship qualification games. Wales sit bottom of Group I and cannot qualify.

Poole's opposite wing-back Daniel Harvie will also miss the games against Southampton U21s and Sunderland as he joins up with the Scotland U21s squad, as they seek qualification from Group D.

Playing in a different position to one he has been used to in his career so far, Poole says he is beginning to get to grips with the demands put on him by Dons boss Russell Martin, but admitted this latest international break for him comes at the wrong time.

"I'm loving football here at the moment, more so than ever before," he said. "But the international duty has come at the wrong time really.

"It's a new position, I'm learning so much in these last games. I came here to play and that's what I'm doing."
