Cameron Jerome came off the bench to net the only goal of the game as MK Dons squeezed past Barnet to go into the hat for the FA Cup third round.

Regan Poole hit the bar and Ste Walker blazed from close range as Dons huffed puffed through the first half, but Jerome tapped home Daniel Harvie's cross eight minutes from time to secure Dons' spot in the next round.

After their 2-2 draw with Shrewsbury on Tuesday, Russell Martin made seven changes to the side for the trip to The Hive. Most notable were the returns for George Williams after injury and Dean Lewington having been rested on Tuesday.

One of those changes though, Jordan Houghton, would last just 13 minutes as he took a blow to his right ankle, and was replaced by Lasse Sorensen.

And he saw a lot of the ball in the first half as Dons controlled possession in their usual fashion against their National League opponents.

Typically frustrating though, Barnet defended deep to cut off Dons' best routes into the box, but when they did make it, Regan Poole clattered the bar and Ste Walker sent one over the top when scoring looked easier.

Barnet looked more orld a force in the second period, with Muhammadu Faal almost scoring with his first touch, and skipper James Dunne testing Lee Nicholls from range.

At the other end, Dons were victims of their own overplaying at times as great positions fizzled out all too often.

But the League One side eventually found the net when substitute Cameron Jerome was on hand to tap in Daniel Harvie's cross with eight minutes remaining.

Barnet: Loach, Dunne, McQueen, Petrasso (Faal 56), Hooper, Taylor, Fonguck (Vasiliou 79), Binnom-Williams, Mason-Clark, Nugent, Wordsworth
