JET hopes to fly with MK Dons

The 25-year-old striker helped fire Bristol City to the League 1 title last season before signing for the R’s in summer.

But after an excellent start to life at Loftus Road, he found himself down the pecking order as managers came and went.

Offered a chance to salvage his season at stadium:mk, Emmanuel-Thomas feels he can add something extra to Dons’ style of play.

“I’m here to do a job,” he said. “I’m all about scoring goals, making changes and making stuff happen. I want to come and do that as much as I can.

“I can bring bit of magic. I can turn nothing into something, that’s what I’m all about and that’s what I like to do. It can give us another dimension.

“I haven’t found it difficult adapting to the Championship really, because when I’ve played I’ve scored goals, but the managers who have come in might not have seen me, or have preferred other strikers to me.

“I’ve spoken to the manager here a few times in the past, and the style of football appeals to me, especially in the way I like to play.”

Emmanuel-Thomas has made just 15 appearances this season, but has hit the back of the net five times, including the opener in QPR’s 3-0 win over MK Dons earlier this season.

And having played against them several times in the past for Bristol City, the striker knew exactly what he was walking in to.

He said: “I’ve played against them many a time, so I know exactly what I’m walking in to. It has always been a good game of football here.

“They haven’t been in the bottom three for a little while which shows they’ve got the fighting spirit. We just need a few more points to get away from it now.

“It’s surprising (to see Dons in this position), but it’s a new level, so it takes time to get used to. A lot of the teams at this level are a very high quality.

“But as the season goes on, the fire in the belly from winning promotion last season will start to kick in, hopefully Dons can pull away from that.”

Dons announced his signing, along with the capture of Alex Revell from Cardiff City late on deadline day, but it could have been even earlier he not taken the call during rush hour.

“It was a bit of a late one, but it’s a good feeling to be here,” he said.

“I woke up to a text from my agent. I went to training, but was just waiting on the call really.

“I could have been here earlier in the day, but I wasn’t going to risk the traffic so I let it die down! I wasn’t too far away anyway, only about 45 minutes down the road.”
