Keeper Fisher has slotted in with ease between the posts

There have been no problems getting used to having Andrew Fisher in goal for MK Dons recently, according to Dean Lewington.

Lee Nicholls, Dons' number one since 2017, was dropped prior to the trip to Blackpool last weekend, handing Fisher his league debut with the club. Having played three games in a week, Fisher made his first meaningful saves on Saturday against AFC Wimbledon, denying Steve Seddon and Joe Pigott headers in fine style to ensure Dons picked up a point at Stadium MK.

While bold Nicholls' role in the side has been praised by Russell Martin, Fisher, who returned to the club on transfer deadline day after a loan-spell last season, appears to have slotted in between the sticks with relative ease so far, and already looks to have the confidence of the defenders in front of him.

"He's good," Lewington said. "He talks early and is keen to come off his line, and that helps the defence when we try and play high.

"We know him from last season, so he's not quite as new as he seems. We had six months with him last season. He fits in well, and between the three keepers there is good competition and he's got the shirt at the moment."

On Fisher's key saves on Saturday, Lewington added: "They were two decent saves, from headers we should have done better with in terms of our marking, but nevertheless still two decent saves."
