Richard Keogh is yet to kick a ball for MK Dons since signing in the summer, but he has already integrated himself into the fold.

The 34-year-old was one of Dons' first summer signings but is only now returning to training after a knee injury which has ruled him out for nearly a year.

Far from locking himself away in the treatment room though, Keogh interrupts his rehab sessions to join team meetings, has been a regular feature for Dons during their pre-season games watching on from the sidelines and made the journey to Doncaster on Saturday to watch his new side's 1-1 draw in the League One curtain-raiser.

Manager Russell Martin says Keogh's eagerness to be a part of everything shows one of the key reasons he signed the Republic of Ireland international.

"Bringing him in was about culture and leadership and what he brings to the team, which will be huge for us," said Martin. "He's been to every pre-season game, he stops his rehab to come into every team meeting. He wants to be a part of everything. He's at an age and has the experience to know what he needs and what he wants.

"He's brought everything I thought he would, and he's not even playing yet. Once he starts playing, I'm sure he will become even more of a leader in the group. He wants to learn, he comes into my office a lot to ask about different things, what he's observed.

"And he wanted to come to Doncaster, so that shows what he's all about. I think people have forgotten about him because he signed really early for us, but he will be a massive signing for the club and has already added so much."
