Lewington disappointed with only a point against AFC Wimbledon

There was an air of disappointment in the MK Dons dressing room after they felt they deserved to take all three points against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

The 1-1 draw, which saw Scott Fraser cancel out Joe Pigott's early opener, was far from a classic between the two rivals. Though Dons keeper Andrew Fisher made the more important saves, captain Dean Lewington felt it was the home side who should have come off with three points rather than one apiece, with AFC Wimbledon showing 'no real intention' of chasing the victory.

"It was a strange game," said Lewington. "They sat 11 people behind the ball, and had no real intention of trying to press or get in our half. It was attack against defence, and we made it a lot harder than we needed it to be by conceding early. After that, we tried but we couldn't get that final ball.

"We come off feeling disappointed because we felt we could have won. But a month ago we would have lost it, so it's a step forward in terms of coming from behind and getting something from a game at least. But we feel we should have done better.

"We got into their final third quite easily, but we couldn't find that pass. We were at times too eager, and other times too slow. We just couldn't quite unpick them.

"But if anyone was going to win it, it was going to be us, and that's the way we want it. In time, we'll get better at finding the passes to unlock teams."
