Dean Lewington's career at left-back may be over as manager Russell Martin looks to shift him into a more central role.

With the vast majority of his 800+ career appearances coming from full-back, Lewington has been vocal on his dislike of playing at centre back down the years.Martin's preferred formation appears to pitch Lewington on the left of a back three, with new signing Daniel Harvie or Baily Cargill lining up outside him. However, despite his previous displeasure at playing in the middle of the defence, Lewington admits after talking to the manager, he is willing to give it another try to remain in the side.

"He's taken away left-back, so there's nowhere else for me to play!" he joked after Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Coventry City.

"We had a little chat about it, he told me to give it a go and see how I feel and so far it's been pretty good. I'm still learning the position but it seems to be going well.

"It's a different picture from left-back because things can go on all around you. It's different but I'm adjusting to it."
