Lincoln boss frustrated at missed changes during Dons draw

Michael Appleton admitted a draw was ultimately the right result

Lincoln City could and probably should have been high and dry at half time with a 3-1 lead over MK Dons but for some poor finishing at Sincil Bank on Tuesday night.

With the game finely poised at 1-1 with two cracking goals, first from Rhys Healey to five Dons the lead and then from Liam Bridcutt to equalise, Tyreece John-Jules and former Dons loanee Jake Hesketh, both missed sitters for the hosts before the break.

Imps boss Michael Appleton though was left to rue what might have been.

“It was slightly frustrating to only come in on level terms at half-time," he said. "It was disappointing to go behind so soon in the game. Having lost four in the row, the lads could have gone under but they composed themselves and responded really well.

“We showed good character to come back into it and scored a fantastic goal. But when you miss the opportunities we missed, it can affect certain individuals in the team and we have to manage that.

“We’ll manage them in the right way and make sure they stay positive, keep doing the right things and keep getting in the right areas. If they keep getting in there, one will bounce off their backside or their shin or their face. All of a sudden they’ll get going again.”
