The League One table this evening
Full time: MK Dons 0-2 Crewe Alexandra
A bad day at the office for Russell Martin’s men. Unable to turn around that opening 20 minute spell which saw them go two goals behind thanks to Mandron’s brace, they were always needing a lot come the second half.
Grigg, Brown, Darling and O’Riley with sights of goal, but when they hit the target they found an in-form Jaaskelainen to keep them at bay.
89 mins: Brown comes close
Great save from Jaaskelainen as he denies Brown’s header which looked en route for the top corner.
75 mins: Grigg can’t convert
Just like the Crewe opener, Dons had a two-on-one but as Grigg looks to square to Brown, a Crewe toe intercepts the pass and the keeper can gather.
74 mins: Dons make their final changes
Charlie Brown and Matthew Sorinola come on for Andrew Surman and Ethan Laird for these final 16 minutes.
69 mins: O’Riley with an effort
Not had much joy this afternoon but Matt O’Riley gets some space on the edge of the box to fire an effort goalwards with his left foot, but it’s wide of the mark. Had Jaaskelainen at full stretch though.
60 mins: Two more changes
Louis Thompson, making his first start in two months, is limping off. Scott Fraser replaces him, while Josh McEachran makes way for the returning David Kasumu.
57 mins: Jerome goes down
He hasn’t looked or moved right since that chance which hit the post, and he’s having to make way. Will Grigg replaces him.
53 mins: Crewe should wrap it up
The visitors should be done and dusted here but they’ve overplayed and somehow the chance has gone begging. Kirk is in on goal, should shoot but waits, plays Mandron in who rather than shoots, tries to flick it to Lowery but it goes out of play.
51 mins: Dons hit the post
Almost a lifeline for the home side there as Laird skips through a couple of tackles to slip Jerome in on goal. He rounds Jaaskelainen but his touch takes him a bit wide and his effort thumps the post.
Crewe get the game back underway.
Half time: MK Dons 0-2 Crewe Alexandra
Poor from Dons for half an hour, and then pretty nondescript after that. Given no time on the ball, Crewe have smothered their creative outlets, McEachran has been off-colour and given the ball away more often than not.
30 mins: A poor opening half an hour for Dons
They’ve really not found their stride so far, Dons. It has been a real struggle to get forwards, Jerome is having to drop into his own half to get the ball. The passing is off-colour, possession is loose and not nearly as tight as we’re used to.
Crewe have done their homework and have done it really well so far in the game.
20 mins: Mandron again
It was bad at the Alexandra Stadium, and it’s just as bad here as Crewe go 2-0 up, with Mandron getting his second of the afternoon. All too easy for the striker, who is able to turn in the six-yard box and fire in.
15 mins: Crewe take the lead
Mikael Mandron eventually puts Crewe into the lead when Zak Jules lost the ball on halfway, allowing the visitors to break two-on-one and when Kirk was clear on goal, he squared it to the unmarked Mandron to convert.
