It’s not just the Football League kicking off this weekend, as thousands of amateur sides up and down the country lace up their boots again for the start of another season.
There have already been three matches in the United Counties League, but Newport Pagnell Town’s Premier Division season gets underway on Saturday with a home game against Peterborough Northern Star.
Willen Road plays host to the Swans’ second game of the season too, three days later on Tuesday August 12 when Newport welcome Leicestershire’s Oadby Town.
Darren Lynch’s men will be keen to improve on last season’s performance, after a disappointing campaign saw them finish just 16th.
In Division One, Olney Town also get their season started with two home games/
The season starts at the Recreation Ground on Saturday with Burton Park Wanderers, and then Woodford United on Tuesday night.
In the Reserve Division, Olney Town Reserves, under new management, start their season with an away day against Peterborough Northern Star Reserves.
The teams in the Spartan Midlands leagues have to wait another week before their seasons kick off, with the season getting under way on Saturday August 16.
In Division 2, New Bradwell St Peter start with an away trip to Aston Clinton.
Wolverton Town start their season at home against Ealing Town and Old Bradwell make the short trip to take on Mursley United.
