Manager decision is 'nothing to do with us' says Lewie

While Steven Gerrard has been met to discuss whether he may take over, Steve Cotterill was at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday to watch Dons draw 0-0 with Bristol Rovers as he remains firmly in contention to take over from Karl Robinson.

But while speculation continues to swirl around, Lewington says he and his team-mates are trying to stay out of it.

"It's easy to get distracted," he admitted. "But we're staying in a little bubble at the club and not paying much attention to what's going on around us.

"But we spent Thursday and Friday preparing and today it was on the game.

"We're not really too fussed by what's being said, we'll just wait for the announcement like everyone else.

"It's not our decision, the chairman will do what is best for the club. We have no influence on that, we'll just do our job."

The draw with Rovers was fair on the whole, with both sides cancelling each other out on a bitterly cold afternoon.

But though the result keeps Dons in the League 1 drop zone, Lewington believes the performance against Rovers was a show by the Dons of old.

He said: "I thought we were dominant in the first half, moved it around well and looked dangerous. In the second half, they were a bit more direct and made things difficult.

"We're trying to keep doing the same things. Richie was a big part of what we did under Karl, and we're carrying that on. We were looking to exploit their midfield diamond, and I thought we did that really well.

"There were a few half-chances that could have gone the other way, but we looked back to our old selves. We passed really well and looked dangerous at times too."
