Shrewsbury manager Sam Ricketts feels Dons have suffered a similar fate to his side this season - not getting what they deserve.

The Shrews head to Stadium MK on Tuesday night having lost 2-1 to Ipswich, despite leading for the majority of the game and conceding a last minute winner to the Tractor Boys.

Dons too have lost games they felt they should have won, and both teams are fighting at the wrong end of the standings so far this season.

"Like us, they've played well in some games and not got the points they deserve," said Ricketts. "They beat Sunderland away which was a big boost for them.

"They're similar to MK Dons of last year – they're very expansive, they like to play out from the goalkeeper which has proved successful for them in some games and not so much in others.

"We can only play to our strengths. We've lost a few players so we've had to evolve our style and our key strengths as best we can, while also trying to nullify the opposition, trying to stop what they do best. It worked very well for us against Ipswich at the weekend – we limited them to very little."

Despite Shrewsbury's struggles of late - having not won for over a month in League One, and sitting 22nd in the table - Martin is wary not to take them lightly when they arrive at Stadium MK on Tuesday.

He said: "When teams are wounded they come out fighting. Shrewsbury have a really good man and a good manager in Sam and they’ll be wanting to fight for him and their league position.

"It depends on us and how we approach and start the game. We want it to be the game we want. We have to start better tomorrow – it’s a fact. We can’t hide from that and we can’t concede first.

"It’ll be a tough game they work very hard and led for a long period of that game against a top team. They’ve got a lot of top experienced players and despite their league position it won’t be an easy game. We have to show more energy and more desire and if we do we have a good chance to win."
