Martin expects more to leave as the hunt for a striker goes on

Four weeks remain before the transfer window closes, and Dons are still eager to do business

Russell Martin said he feels 'one or two' could still leave his MK Dons squad before the transfer window closes.

With Dons' squad already bulging, particularly in midfield, some players will be looking at options elsewhere to ply their trade this season. Hiram Boateng and Kieran Agard have played just a handful of times for Martin since he took over in November 2019, and both are likely candidates to make way.

Martin said: "I think the squad is looking fairly full in certain areas, so it will make sense for one or two to leave, players who haven't been involved much since I took over. Not because they're bad people or bad players, but because I have a different vision for the team.

"I'm sure there will be players who won't be happy about not playing so it would be best for them to look elsewhere and play some football. We have four weeks left in the window, but I do expect that to happen."

And in those four weeks, Martin still has to broker a deal for a goal-scorer to try to replace Rhys Healey who left the club last month.

"We're still hunting him down!" Martin said. "It's well underway, we've been speaking about it for a long time and I know people will be getting annoyed and frustrated by the same answer. We're working on it.

"We have got four weeks left, so if it takes that long to get the right one, we have to accept it. I'm like everyone else, I want him here and now but as soon as I have any news it will come out. I'm confident we'll get one in who everyone will enjoy watching play and score us some goals."
