George Williams, Richard Keogh and Scott Fraser impressed manager Russell Martin as they played their first full matches of the season on Saturday.

For Williams and Fraser, March was their last full competitive outing, while Keogh has not played a full 90 minutes since his knee injury back in September 2019.

Both Keogh and Williams were a part of the defence which limited undefeated Ipswich to just a handful of chances while Fraser added some much-welcomed spark in the attacking third during 1-1 draw.

"All three of the guys who came in today will have to keep up their performances," said Martin afterwards. "They performed really well.

"I'm delighted for (Keogh) after everything he has been through, he made a real difference. The back three were really assured. We've had to defend one action all game and it cost us. They deserved a clean sheet.

"(Fraser) is not fit yet, he's managed 90 minutes today which we weren't expecting, but we needed his creativity. He suits the way we play perfectly. We need to improve him in a few areas but it feels like we have one of the best midfielders in the league.

"I thought (Williams) was great. Him and Richard had real intensity and a big voice. I told George he can become more of a leader than he already is and he has responded to that. Today he was great."

Just a week after his first 90 minutes in three years, Ben Gladwin was missing from the squad after picking up a minor injury in training, Martin confirmed.

"He's just had a little reaction," the manager said. "We're hoping for a quick return, it might take a week or so to assess what's going on. He's gutted because he was in such a good place. It's hopefully only a minor setback."
