Carlton Morris will miss Dons' trip to Rotherham on Saturday after his red card against Portsmouth.

With Dons 2-1 down, Morris clipped striker John Marquis when he was through on goal with three minutes to go, offering referee Kevin Johnson no option but to send the striker off.

Morris raced from one end of the field to the other to prevent Pompey from extending their 2-1 advantage, but earned himself an early back which will rule him out of the trip to Yorkshire on Saturday.

But manager Russell Martin said he was pleased to see Morris racing back to cover the defence, which was up the field for a Dons corner, as Marquis looked set to score.

He said: "People may be disappointed he's been sent off, I was delighted to see him chase 80 yards from a corner to get on the ball. He's tried to get out of the way but he's clipped him. It's a red card, he'll only miss the one game not three. He'll be a miss.

"He was excellent in the first half especially, but it showed his desire and will to win – he's our striker but he's ended up closest to our goal."
