Russell Martin should have been on the sidelines at the Cherry Red Records Stadium this afternoon (April 18) - instead he was left to wonder when he might get the chance to again.

It has been over a month since Dons were last in action - losing 1-0 to Doncaster at Stadium MK on March 7 - and Dons' trip to take on fierce rivals AFC Wimbledon was set to be the third from last game of the season, with both sides scrapping at the wrong end of the table.

Martin admitted it was a game he was very much looking forward to managing, given the rivalry between the two sides and the travelling support from Milton Keynes in his previous trip there earlier this season.

"I was really looking forward to playing AFC Wimbledon," he said. "I've played against them twice, and the support we took there was brilliant.

"It was a game everyone was looking forward to, hopefully we'll get to play it soon. I'm confident in what we were doing that we'd have been OK. We've got some really big games if and when this season begins."
