MK Dons will make the short trip up the M1 to take on Northampton Town in the last 16 of the Papa John's Trophy.

The sides met in the opening game of the group stage, which Dons won 3-1 at Stadium MK. Russell Martin's men went on to win the group and cruise to a 6-0 win over Norwich City U21s in the last 32 on Tuesday night.

Keith Curle's side meanwhile progressed in second place in the group, and beat Exeter City on Tuesday night 2-1 to set up the clash with Dons.

Not only the second time the sides have met in this competition this season, it will be the third time the sides have played each other, having shared a 0-0 draw at the PTS Academy Stadium last month.

The game will be played in the week commencing January 11, 2021.
