Samir Carruthers has thanked Keith Andrews for helping him grow into his central midfield role.
The former Aston Villa man was widely recognised as a winger when he signed for Dons in the summer, but after injury ruled out Dele Alli last month, Carruthers has been drawn into the centre as cover.
After initially struggling with the role, veteran midfielder Keith Andrews has been on hand to advise Carruthers, something which the 21-year-old has greatly appreciated.
Carruthers said: “It has been a while since I played there, I grew up with Villa playing in the centre.
“I love being in the middle of the pitch. You get on the ball all the time, you can tackle - I love a tackle but I’ve got to be careful with the bookings! You can go forward and dictate play.
“It’s a lot of responsibility, but I like that. I feel a part of the match when I’m there.
“Keith Andrews has helped me massively. He’s taken me under his wing.
“I’ve been doing a lot of one-to-one with Keith. He’s got bags of experience, he’s been promoted, he’s played in the Championship, he’s played at the top level.
“It’s really good, and it’s interesting to learn off him. I can see my game getting better and better as a result.”
