Australian international Silvera agrees MK Dons switch

MK Dons have completed their sixth signing of the summer

MK Dons have added a sixth signing to their ranks this summer with the capture of former Middlesbrough winger Sam Silvera.

The second player to move to Milton Keynes from the Riverside this month, following Dan Barlaser who arrived at the start of July, 25-year-old Silvera arrives on a free transfer after leaving Boro at the end of last season.

Involved in last season’s bid to reach the Premier League, Australian international Silvera made 18 appearances last season, scoring twice in the Championship.

No stranger to League One either, Silvera spent a spell on loan at Blackpool in the third tier in 24/25, making 15 appearances in the second-half of the season.

The Australian is capable of playing on the wing and at wing-back, an area head coach Paul Warne has said he was eager to bolster ahead of the new campaign.

“Sam is a player that we pursued throughout the summer,” he said. “He’s a utility attacking player who can play wing back on either side and also a winger either side and he has actually played fullback on occasion too.

“He someone who's quick, wants to take people on and brings a bit more competition along the front line for us, which is great, and he has also been playing at a Championship level.

“All the research we did on him with his teammates came back glowing. I also FaceTimed him a few weeks ago and then met him about a week ago as well.

“After that, it was just a matter of tying the deal together. I’m really pleased to have him on board, and we welcome him to the club.

“I’m also looking forward to getting him as fit as we can, as quick as we can and we look forward to including him in the training sessions.”

The move is subject to FA and EFL clearance.
