Leading goalscorer Patrick Bamford should remain with MK Dons until the end of the season, according to manager Karl Robinson.
The 20-year-old will find out on Friday whether he has won the League 1 Player of the Month award for October, after hitting the net four times in five matches.
But with rumours abound that Bamford will be recalled by parent club Chelsea in January before being shipped out to pit his wits at Championship level, Robinson was quick to quash any speak of a return to Stamford Bridge in the new year.
“I’ve spoken to Chelsea - it’s fabricated nonsense,” said Robinson. “Nothing has come from Chelsea at all. They don’t know where it’s come from. They’re very happy with Patrick being here.
“They’re ecstatic for the fact that he’s come here and is scoring goals.”
And although his loan ends in January, Robinson believes the striker would benefit from staying at stadium:mk until the end of the season.
He said: “Personally, I think he’d be better here getting 25, 30 goals under his belt so he can have a season of scoring goals consistently.
“Patrick is playing every week, he’s getting better, he’s getting stronger.
“He’s now not an unknown quantity and people want to stop him, and make it difficult.
“We have to make sure he overcomes this next part of his development.
“If he can keep scoring goals at this level, there’ll come a time when he has to take the next challenge.
“But at the end of the day, he’s Chelsea’s player and I have to trust their judgement.”
