Challenge remains the same for MK Dons in four remaining games

Aaron Nemane spoke after MK Dons were held to a 1-1 draw by Oldham on Monday

The aim for the final four games of this season is clear for the MK Dons players, Aaron Nemane has said.

Mike Fondop’s 84th minute equaliser for Oldham Athletic on Monday denied Dons a much-needed win in the League Two promotion, but with 12 points still on offer, their fate remains in their hands as they sit second behind Saturday’s opponents Bromley.

Though the run without a win is now stretched to four games, Nemane said the goal for the games left remains the same.

“We have to stay calm and get back to winning games,” he said at Boundary Park. “We’ve got four games left, and we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do.

“It shows how random this league could be - you never know where you’re going to be, we could have dropped to fifth today if results had gone against us. It’s still all in our hands.”

Dons led through Marvin Ekpiteta’s fifth goal of the season on the half-hour mark - the first goal Oldham had conceded at home since Valentine’s Day - and came just six minutes short of snatching victory at Boundary Park, a win which would have moved them within two points of Bromley.

Fondop’s late header was a frustrating one for Dons, who had defended fiercely all afternoon. limiting their hosts to precious little in front of goal.

Nemane continued: “Going 1-0 up and conceding so late on is disappointing but we’ve got to take the point and move on.

“We knew how good they are, seen the run they’ve been on in the second-half of the season and they’re right up there trying to get into the play-offs, so we knew it would be tough.

“They started really quickly but we defended really well, the back three did a good job on the striker for most of the game. We took our time getting into the game but once we got the goal, I think we could have gone on to get a few more. We have to take the positives.”
