Chesterfield boss handed ban after late red card at MK Dons
The Spireites chief faced three charges from the FA
Chesterfield manager Paul Cook has been handed a two-match touchline ban and a £2,500 fine after being sent off during the game with MK Dons earlier this month.
Following Will Grigg’s stoppage time equaliser at Stadium MK, which saw the Spireites come from 2-0 down at half-time to snatch a point against Paul Warne’s side, Cook was given his marching orders just seconds before the final whistle.
Charged by the FA on two counts initially, Cook was alleged to have “acted in an improper manner around the 94th minute, which led to his dismissal, and that he used abusive and/or insulting words towards the match officials around the tunnel and towards a match official around the changing rooms after the game.”
The former Wigan Athletic boss denied the first charge but pleaded guilty to the second and third allegations, landing him with the ban and fine.
It means he will sit in the stands tomorrow night (Tuesday) when Chesterfield take on Karl Robinson’s Salford City at the Peninsula Stadium, and again on Saturday when they host Walsall at the SMH Group Stadium.
