It has been a busy morning at MK1 as Dons announced the signing of three new players ahead of their first Championship campaign.
Welsh international striker Simon Church, USA U23 goalkeeper Simon Cropper and winger Dale Jennings were announced as Karl Robinson’s first signings of the summer as the first team squad reported for their first day of training on Monday.
Church, 26, was released by Charlton at the end of last season, but made his name at Reading, scoring 26 goals in 104 appearances for the Royals. He has been capped 29 times by Wales.
Cropper joins Dons from Southampton where he didn’t make a first team appearance, but was a regular in the U21 Premier League.
And Jennings is a familiar face at stadium:mk, having played for Robinson’s side six times on loan in 2013. Jennings burst onto the scene as a teenager at Tranmere before a high-profile move to Bayern Munich. He returned to England two years later with Barnsley.
“I’m excited to have them on board,” Robinson said. “They will all bring different attributes to the group.
“Cody has got tremendous potential and he fits the type of the person we want around the place. He’s a good size, got a great work ethic and wants to learn.
“This is an opportunity for Dale, who knows he’s got work to do, but we all saw last time what he can do – he lifted the team and contributed to some good results.
“Churchy is a really top lad, a good player and can score goals. He will add tremendous quality to our team.”
Church said: “I’m excited to be here. With everything in place here, it was the perfect move for me and the ambition of the Club is massive and I wanted to be a part of that.”
Cropper said: “It’s a great opportunity for myself and I’m very pleased to be here. I want to push on and develop as a goalkeeper.”
“I’m really happy to be back,” added Jennings. “I enjoyed my time a couple of years ago and it was a no-brainer to return - I can’t wait to get going again.”
