Karl Robinson has put a strict time-limit on the contracts offered to Stephen Gleeson, Antony Kay and Mark Randall, because it is beginning to affect his transfer dealings.
The trio were named among MK Dons’ retained list last Friday, while Alan Smith, Izale McLeod and Ryan Hall left the club.
But while contracts are set to expire on Friday June 30, Robinson doesn’t want contract wranglings to carry on into the future, with potential new players waiting to hear whether they’ll be heading to stadium:mk next season.
“It won’t go on for much longer,” Robinson said. “I’ve got people waiting in the wings to take over, as is always the case.”
The delays mean Dons are yet to announce any signings for next season.
But Robinson urges patience while he ensures the deals are right for the club.
He said: “We have to make sure we do the dealings right.
“We’ve got a few things we’ve seen in the shop window, and we’ll have to wait and see.
“Hopefully, we can have some positive news soon. There’s still a lot more to do.”
But Robinson is safe in the knowledge that Lee Hodson and Player of the Year Ben Reeves will be staying with Dons next season after the club took up options on the pair for an extra year.
Robinson said: “I’m really happy about that. Their age bracket is perfect.
“I thought Lee Hodson was sensational, and Ben Reeves’ performances speak for themselves.
“Hopefully, they’ll be even better next year.”
