DARREN Potter was the big winner as he walked off with three gongs at the MK Dons Player of the Year Awards on Monday night.
In his first season at stadium:mk, Potter has certainly made an impact – not only on the fans who voted for him to win the Player of the Year and the MK Dons Supporters Association Player of the Year – but also on his new team-mates who gave him the honour of being the Players’ Player of the Year too.
Fellow newcomer Shaun Williams was the man who impressed the press the most this term as he landed the Football Writers’ Player of the Year award for his versatile performances playing out of position at centre back for the entire season.
David Martin’s generous spirit helped score him the Dons Sport and Education Trust Community Player of the Year prize, while Luke Chadwick praised his equally generous team-mates in the build up to his Goal of the Season, coming in the dramatic 4-0 drubbing of Premier League side Norwich City at Carrow Road.
There will be a nail-biting finale to the Top Scorer award though, with Dean Bowditch and Charlie MacDonald separated by four goals with at least three games remaining this season.
Youngster Joel Gyasi scooped the MK Dons Academy U18s, Liam Jones took home the MKDSA Disability Player of the Year, Heather McDonnell was named Dons Ladies’ Player of the Year, and John Brockwell was named Fan of the Year.
